Long Hoverfly
Really! That's its name! Well, you could call it Sphaerophoria scripta if you prefer 😊
This will be a male, identified due to his body being longer than its wings. Its larvae eat aphids, so certainly a welcome visitor. And all hoverflies are welcome as pollinators.There is a darker form also seen in the Summer months.
