Two Excellent Visitors!
Jamie moved the overgrown plant pot by the allotment noticeboard and found these two welcome visitors!
I've only seen a small number of slow worms (anguis fragilis) in my life, so was really pleased to see this young one.
So pretty - really golden! Apparently all young slow worms are gold with the black stripe - as are female adults.
And so smooth. That's him making his way back into the long grass.
And, we've seen a few toads (bufo bufo) on site before. They love to eat slugs, though this one was sitting next to a slug - perhaps he had already had his fill!
Or maybe our allotment slugs are too big for him!

Great pictures. Lucky to have slow worms. I think they are quite rare.
