Large Skipper Butterfly

I think that's the correct id. I was so pleased with this little chap for sitting patiently on my finger while I took a few photos of him from various angles!

It did refuse to open its wings completely, but this shot seems to show enough of a pattern to make me think it's a large skipper butterfly - see UK Butterflies.

I cropped this photo because the wings were out of focus and the supermacro on my fabulous little camera did such a great job at capturing this butterfly's face!
