Red Kite versus Crow
We are now used to seeing red kites flying over our town and the allotment site. I love to see them overhead with their eerie cry. Some of the other birds are less keen and we often see crows and even swallows/house martins attacking the kites to steer them away from their young.
We always know when a kite is nearby because of the alarms sent out by the birds.
I understood that kites were only interested in carrion but they can apparently take chicks from nests so the other birds are right to be concerned.
