Baby Blackbird

This young blackbird was hopping around while we were digging. He/she was happy to eat worms that we threw over. There are a lot of young around our plot at this time of year and the parents are very busy feeding them.

Although worms are an allotment friend, we're happy to have birds around as they can help with other pests - though they can cause damage too but we protect our veggies against them.
