Knot Grass Caterpillar
This lovely looking caterpillar stood out like a saw thumb on a pile of dried squash stems at the weekend.
It’s probably planning to pupate now so that it can over-Winter in a cosy cocoon. It will emerge as a rather dull grey moth in May.
I moved it to the wildlife plot where it won’t be disturbed, at least not by humans…
As the name suggests it is interested in knotgrass (a weed related to dock) and other herbaceous plants so not our veggies!
