A Few Familiar Bugs

I've posted about all these before but thought they deserved an entry as I managed to get some reasonable close-ups of the beasties.

This first one is a 16-spot ladybird.
A really tiny, fast running insect!
This is the red velvet mite. This one is much less scarlet than others I've seen, they really stand out against the soil. They're good guys - eating other small mites and vegetable matter - not to be confused with the small red spider mite.
This is a pied shield bug. It lives on dead nettle - a weed of which there's a lot of on-site at the moment.
