Comma Butterflies

It was such a hot day that we were at the plot early and had to escape before lunch. There were a lot of butterflies drinking water from where we had watered yesterday evening. There was a cluster of about 5 whites and 3 comma butterflies Polygonia c-album.

The whites were too skittish to be photographed but the commas stayed for ages, although they refused to open their wings when I was close enough to get a good shot! Just a quick glimpse here:
