May Bug

This is the Garden Chafer, commonly known as the May Bug. It's an impressive looking beetle, quite large and prone to clattering into windows!
We have often found chafer grubs in the earth but don't actually see many of the grown bug so I was pleased to find this one and snap it.
It is sitting on a pea flower but I think the grubs are the only real problem and they are mostly a problem to people who care about their lawns.
