Angle Shades moth Pupa

We find lots of these when we're digging in the Spring/early Summer months. Pretty sure they're the pupae of the Angle Shades moth which we also see a lot of (well, the caterpillars).
I can remember finding these when I was little and putting them in a matchbox to await the transformation, but I never recall actually getting a caterpillar out :-{

  1. I knocked one of these down and I am not sure if I need to rehang it

    1. This particular type likes to be buried, but the hanging ones probably should be re-hung. I'm not sure but it may be so their wings open up properly...
