Soldier Beetle

We get a lot of soldier beetles in early summer as the larvae emerge from the soil and live amongst warm stones.
Soldier beetles are carniverous and are brilliant at controlling soil-dwelling pests and are partial to soft-bodied pests like caterpillars.
