Ground Beetle and larva

This lively fellow is lovely looking. There are masses of different ground beetles; I can't identify it from all the different varieties, but it is a beauty!

This is the larva of a ground beetle; this was even speedier than the parent!

Ground beetles are generally not unwelcome on the plot. They are often carnivorous and eat invertebrates.
